Gold Medal Winning Rig - Cumulus Section wins Gold in Beijing.
Australian Womens’ representatives of Elise Rechichi and Tessa Parkinson sailed an impressive series to win gold in Beijing. Team Selden sailors of Hannah Mills and Katrina Hughes have built on a string of good results since they teamed up in the 470 taking gold at the Women’s Junior World Championships. Hannah says "We chose Selden Mast over any other mast because we feel that the consistancy and quality of the product is second to none. When we buy a mast we know what we’re getting and can be confident with it’s performance."
Sofia Bekatoura, Olympic Gold medalist in Athens 2004, 470 (w) "...the 2004 taper developed by Seldén gave us a definite speed edge, we could work the rig harder to be faster through the water..." Update - CumulusIn late 2003, Seldén developed a new custom taper on their highly successful Cumulus section that increased tube stiffness in the lower 1m of the taper. This allowed the rig to be ’worked’ harder in the 9-13knot wind range (when the yellow flag was flown). Fully tested by the Greek men and women’s team in early 2004, the rig was an instant success. Fully fitted with all the new design fittings from Seldén, the rig was deemed clearly to be faster than anything around and went on to win three medals in the Olympics. The taper is now the standard package for 2005. Boom Section Olympus is the only boom section designed specifically for 470 class rules making it the stiffest 470 boom available for maximum rig control. Boom slides allow direct attachment of mainsheet blocks so that the boom can be easily centrelined in medium conditions. Spinnaker PoleDrawn tube is used for our 42mm extra stiff spinnaker pole tube. Using drawn tube enables wall thickness can be significantly reduced to give the stiffest, lightest spinnaker pole possible. | ||||
