SELDÉN SUCCESS IN REVIVED QUARTER TON CLASS

30/06/2007 00:00:00

SELDÉNSeldén Mast recently launched its new keelboat range by replacing the spars on three top boats in the Quarter Ton Class. Masts were supplied for the boats ‘Tom Bombadil’, ‘Catch’, and ‘ASAP’, utilising section and fittings from their newly designed keelboat range.

The spars were replaced as part of an optimisation process for IRC, and as part of the renovation of some truly classic yachts.

The boats were quick to show their speed. For their first time in the boat since the boat had been renovated, ‘Tom Bombadil’ won the Vice Admirals Cup, an excellent warm-up to the start of the Coutts Quarter Ton Cup due to take place a week later. ‘Catch’ also showed strong form straight out of the box with a consistent 1,1,3 on the first day.

During the Coutts Quarter Ton Cup the boats also showed their speed, tussling with each other to record a final result of 2,3,4 out of 26 competitors. ‘Catch’ came second, followed by ‘ASAP’ and ‘Tom Bombadil’ in fourth.

All boats were using the new tapered, single spreader Seldén C126 mast section, and two of the boats were also sporting the B104 boom section.
