TEAM SELDÉN DOMINANT AT 420 YOUTH NATIONALS

30/04/2008 00:00:00

TEAMThe three teams that comprise the 420 class representatives in Team Seldén stamped their authority on the 2008 Youth Nationals held in Pwllheli Sailing Club in North Wales, with first, third and fifth placings. Indeed Seldén had excellent results throughout the 420 class, with seven teams out of the top ten using a Seldén rig.

The recently formed team of Ben Saxton and David De Boltz sailed excellently to win the event using a Seldén Cumulus mast and 2628 boom section. Rivals and fellow Team Seldén sailors James Rusden and Joe Williams sailed consistently to finish in fourth using the same Seldén spar products. The Cumulus proved its strength within the 420 class powering four teams to finishing results within the top ten. After winning the End of Seasons last year, James commented "We were very fast, I was really pleased with the Cumulus mast and how well it is performing."

Top girl pairing of Imogen Stanley and Kate MacGregor, also members of Team Seldén sailed to fifth place using the Seldén Kappa mast. Three teams finishing in the top ten used this more dynamic section, still the best choice for the lighter teams within the 420 fleet. Congratulations also to Phil Sparks and Ben Gratton, finishing third using a Seldén Kappa mast at their first event together.

The Seldén Cumulus and Kappa rigs both come fitted with the Seldén fully adjustable spreader system allowing optimised tuning through easy and accurate adjustment both on and off the water. The Cumulus and Kappa products can also be fitted with Seldén mast halyard lock, an option that has become very popular within the 420 fleet. The halyard lock minimises mast compression and halyard stretch while maximising the effectiveness of the cunningham.
