Assembling and adjusting your spreaders
Our new spreader bracket has been designed so that you can acheive a wide range
of spreader settings by using different combinations of adjustment hole.
- Pins should be fitted downwards so that the clevis ring is underneath the spreader bracket when the mast is upright.
- The primary pin position (fore/aft) gives a coarse setting
which can then be refined by the adjustment pin position.
- The adjuster pin can either go through holes 1-4 on the bracket and A-C on the spreader or holes 5-7 on the bracket and D-E on the spreader.
- Your class rules may limit the range spreader settings that you can use.
Security
- All clevis pins must be fitted with the flat head on top and be locked with a split ring.
- Tape all split pins, rings and the outboard end of the spreader extrusion. This will reduce chafe on your mainsail and help prevent damage to flapping sails or halyards.
- Self-amalgamating tape is best, but pvc electrical tape can also be used.
